MIKAYLA

Day of Coordinator

Tell us a bit about you?

I grew up in Arizona and moved to Minnesota for college where I graduated from Gustavus. I love brunch, a well planned social schedule and spending time with my family and friends!

What makes you smile?

A good dad joke and a crisp fall day.

What other hobbies do you enjoy?

I love to travel (I also love the planning of trips almost as much as the trip itself) and finding fun new restaurants

What’s your favorite flower?

Daisies

What romantic film do you like best?

Sleepless in Seattle

What’s a fun fact about you?

I love the Jonas Brothers and I buy too many decorative pillows.

What is something people don’t know about you?

I’m a second degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do.

What is your favorite love song?

Love Like This by Ben Rector

What is your favorite dessert?

A good brownie with walnuts.

Favorite quote?

Too many to list, but the one resonating with me right now is: “The goal is not to be better than the other man, but your previous self.” -Dalai Lama

Why did you get into wedding planning?

I love weddings, I love planning and I love helping others! It’s so fun to combine all of those and be a part of a very special day.

What is your favorite part of the wedding day?

I love the first look. It’s such an intimate and magical moment of calm before the chaos of a busy wedding begins.

Why do you love Rustic Style Weddings?

I think that rustic style weddings are the perfect balance of classic and comfort.

Any great stories or moments from past weddings?

My very first wedding with Rustic Elegance started with sweltering heat and ended with tornado sirens and monsoon level rain. And although the RE team was running around frantically in soaked clothes, the bride, groom and guests partied like any other night and had an amazing time!

What tips or advice do you have for couples working on planning their wedding day?

You’re never going to please everyone, and that isn’t the point of the day. Do what works for you and your spouse!

Best advice for the bride on her big day?

Don’t sweat the small stuff. Don’t worry about the caterers setting up on time, or whether your aunt will drink too much at the reception and embarrass you, or if the centerpieces will look good. Remember that the point of the day is to celebrate your love!
