With the recent uprising of ChatGPT and AI, we thought that it would be fun to ask AI what the top 10 most important aspects of a wedding day are! We will then follow up on each item with our insight as wedding professionals.

1. Love and Commitment

AI’s Explanation: “The core of any wedding, the love and commitment between the couple, is celebrated and affirmed through their vows and promises to each other.”

Wedding Planner Insight: Truthfully, this was a great addition to the list! The most important part of a wedding is celebrating the couple and their love for one another. This will look different for every couple, and the RE team is here to help make your wedding day dreams a reality!

2. Venue and Setting

AI’s Explanation: “The venue sets the stage for the entire event, influencing the ambiance, style, and overall feel of your wedding. Couples often consider factors such as indoor vs outdoor, rustic vs modern, and formal vs casual when selecting a venue”

Wedding Planner Insight: Selecting your wedding venue is one of the most important aspects of your wedding. Of course you should love how it looks and feels, but your venue will impact the entire day for everyone involved! Things like catering prep / food distribution, guest experience, and vendor unloading / loading will all be affected by your venue choice. This can get tricky with backyard weddings, but the RE team has plenty of experience to assist in making the day run as smoothly as possible!

3. Guest Experience

AI’s Explanation: Couples want their guests to have a memorable and enjoyable experience. This includes factors like comfortable seating, good food and drinks, entertainment, and thoughtful gestures.

Wedding Planner Insight: Guest experience is definitely something we consider when we help couples plan their wedding. An example is the flow of the venue from ceremony to cocktail hour to reception. We want this to be seamless and not have guests feeling overwhelmed or lost when traveling to the next location. Another example is ensuring not only that the food and drinks are delicious, but that everyone is getting enough of them. This may involve adding a late night snack for those who stay to dance the night away with you!

4. Food and Drink

AI’s Explanation: Food and drink are central to the reception experience. Couples often choose menus that reflect their tastes and accommodate dietary restrictions. They may also offer signature cocktails or specialty drinks to add a personal touch.

Wedding Planner Insight: Choosing a caterer is another aspect of your day that is directly impacted by your venue, as many venues have preferred caterers or even just one catering partner. If you have a backyard wedding, you will want to choose a caterer that has experience and supplies for this setup. It’s important to choose a company that is within your budget, but also serves food that you and your guests will enjoy! You can reach out to potential caterers to get estimates and schedule tastings, which we always recommend prior to booking. Luckily, we have a TON of amazing caterers in Minnesota that make amazing food for all budgets and love to work with you to create the perfect wedding menu.

5. Attire and Appearance

AI’s Explanation: The bride’s and groom’s attire, as well as the attire of the wedding party, contribute to the overall aesthetic of the wedding. Couples often spend time selecting outfits that fit their style and vision for the day.

Wedding Planner Insight: One of our favorite parts of the day is when we see the reveal of the couple’s wedding attire! We have many meetings with them and form a close bond, so seeing them all done up and looking spiffy on their wedding day is so fun! We especially love seeing how the attire reflects their personalities and the vibe of their wedding day. From flowy boho dresses and photo lined suits to white Converse and fun socks, this part of the day is so fun! Let yourselves enjoy it and allow your true selves to shine through!

6. Photography and Videography

AI’s Explanation: Wedding photos and videos capture the special moments of the day, preserving memories that will be cherished for years to come. Couples often invest in professional photographers and videographers to ensure high-quality images and footage.

Wedding Planner Insight: Wedding photos are one of those things that you will cherish for the rest of your life! Displaying them in your home and showing generations to come how beautiful your day was. We even see wedding photos of parents and grandparents displayed at our couple’s weddings! The most important thing is ensuring you choose a photographer that uses a style that you like. Whether that be documentary, editorial, or true to life. Wedding videography isn’t a vendor we see at every wedding, but we surely aren't complaining when we do! Videographers aren’t considered a necessity if you’re working with a tighter budget, but you won’t regret having a video to relive your day if your budget allows!

7. Music and Entertainment

AI’s Explanation: Music sets the tone for the celebration and keeps guests engaged throughout the event. Couples may choose live bands, DJs, or other forms of entertainment based on their musical preferences and budget.

Wedding Planner Insight: Choosing a band or DJ is incredibly important if you want to keep that dance floor full! There are so many talented options to choose from that know how to keep the party going in the Twin Cities! In addition to music, there are many other forms of entertainment you can include on your wedding day from live painters to photo booths. We also offer photo booth rental, which you can learn all about HERE!

8. Ceremony Rituals and Traditions

AI’s Explanation: Many couples incorporate rituals into their wedding ceremonies to honor their cultural heritage or religious beliefs. These may include rituals like lighting a unity candle, exchanging rings, or performing cultural ceremonies.

Wedding Planner Insight: Again, our highlight for this point is to stay true to yourselves. Couples often receive a lot of pressure from outside influences on how they “should” be doing parts of their wedding. Your ceremony should reflect the two of you, whether that includes a braiding unity symbol, planting a tree together, or saying your vows in private, do what feels right for you! The RE team is here to support your traditions and ensure the ceremony flows smoothly.

9. Personalization and Details

AI’s Explanation: Personal touches and attention to detail help make a wedding feel unique and reflective of the couple’s personalities. This could include customized decorations, DIY elements, or thematic elements that tell the couple’s love story.

Wedding Planner Insight: This is another aspect that falls closely with attire. These details reflect the aesthetic of your day, as well as your personalities. Every wedding is different, and we love helping couples find whatever vibe they enjoy the most. This is also directly impacted by your venue, so if you want a rustic wedding, you probably don’t want a fancy ballroom venue! Overall, it’s important to find a vibe that you like, whether that’s a color palette or theme, and partner with vendors who can bring that vision to life!

10. Planning and Coordination

AI’s Explanation: Thorough planning and coordination are essential for a successful wedding day. This involves tasks such as creating a timeline, booking vendors, managings RSVPs, and ensuring that everything runs smoothly on the day of the event. Couples may choose to hire a wedding planner or coordinator to help with these tasks.

Wedding Planner Insight: Okay… we might be a little biased with this one, but ChatGPT did call us essential. 😉 On a real note, whether you hire a professional or not, these are incredibly important aspects of a wedding day. Afterall, if you don’t create a general timeline, track your RSVPs, and hire vendors, the day would be a big mess! Obviously, we think it is best to hire a wedding coordinator to help with these things and take the load off of you and your families so that you can enjoy the planning process and the wedding day!
