City House St Paul Wedding | Amy + Jackson

City House St Paul wedding

Amy and Jackson came to our team of MN wedding coordinators with such a fun idea… a brunch wedding! As we chatted through dreams of a breakfast and coffee theme, we grew more and more excited to help coordinate their City House St Paul wedding.

RE Owner Kellie planned with the bride, Amy, via Zoom. There were lots of logistics to work through during the planning process, which was so fun for our detail-oriented team. The couple’s Lead Planner Danielle loves organization, so she was pumped to pull together Amy and Jackson’s big day!

THE MORNING

The morning of the wedding brought all of the cozy vibes with strong thunderstorms. Pouring rain, thunder, lightning persisted, but we remained hopeful for their outdoor ceremony in Irvine Park

While tucked away in an Airbnb across the street from Irvine Park, the wedding party prepped for the big day. In order to stay on schedule for the brunch wedding, Primped started glam bright and early at 5:45am.

Lead Planner Danielle arrived at 7:30am and began checking in with the couple and their vendors (including Arriba Event Rentals who were braving the heavy rain to set up the ceremony chairs in the park!).

As our team checked in with the couple, we began to see all of the intricate details coming together. It never gets old!

The couple had a variety of special people involved throughout their day. One of the most crucial was Deb, the designated “hand holder” for the couple’s son, Henry. She is his daycare provider, so Henry was comfortable spending time with her throughout (which is so important for a happy baby on a big day like this)!

Once the ladies were finished with hair and makeup, they began getting dressed. This is when another important person showed up, Liz! This was such a special, full-circle moment for the bride. Liz used to make dresses for her when she was a little girl. Since Amy’s mom passed away when she was young, it only made sense for Liz to help Amy get into her wedding dress from Brides of France.

To honor her mother, Amy chose to include a dried flower from her mom’s funeral in her bridal bouquet from Studio B Floral. This was such a sweet, symbolic way to have her mom alongside her all day!

Once the couple finished getting ready, they met at the top of the stairs in the Airbnb for their first look. The lighting in the space was so stunning, it made for magical photos by Studio KH!

Amy and Jackson then made their way downstairs, where their son Henry was waiting in the cutest little outfit! With his bowtie, flower pin, and loafers, he was looking so dapper for his parent’s brunch City House St Paul wedding!

At this point, it still had not been decided if we were going to do the ceremony outside at Irvine Park or move it indoors at City House. Since we still had some time, we decided to see what the weather would do while Studio KH ran through photos as scheduled.

By 8:15am, Randella from our team arrived at City House to set up decor along with the florist, caterer, bartenders, and quartet.

As the ceremony time approached, the couple made the decision to have the ceremony outside, even with the sprinkles, which was very important to them. The couple’s officiant from Flutterby Celebrations was experienced and knew the drill, so we knew the ceremony could run smoothly despite the weather. Due to the rain, the live violinist had to be cancelled, but Sound MN provided a sound system to play the music so our backup plan was all set!

Our team chatted with Amy’s 3 god daughters, who were the couple’s designated greeters, about their duties (which included handing out parking permits, programs, and umbrellas).

As guests arrived, they were asked to each wipe off their own chair and hand the towel to the next guest. Due to the continued rain our team couldn’t wipe the chairs down in advance, so this was a great way to ensure each guest had a dry chair to sit in as they arrived!

THE CEREMONY

Thankfully, the rain was just a light sprinkle as the ceremony began. We loved the beautiful ceremony location in Irvine Park in front of the fountain!

The couple shared a beautiful outdoor ceremony surrounded by their loved ones in the gentle rain shower. As Amy and Jackson shared their first kiss as husband and wife, our team turned on the bubble machines for their exit. It was such a wonderful moment, and we always say that rain on a wedding day is good luck!

Guests then made their way back to their vehicles to drive to the reception space at City House

THE RECEPTION

As everyone arrived at cocktail hour, they were serenaded by the Argyle Street Quartet. Tomato, cheese, and basil skewers were available as appetizers, along with a hosted bar consisting of mimosas, beer, wine, and soda.

Once guests were seated in the reception area, Amy and Jackson made their grand entrance and went straight into their first dance. After sharing their dance to “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” their son joined them for a dance to Skinnamarink. How cute is that?!

The couple said a quick welcome speech, then everyone enjoyed a delicious brunch buffet from Lancer Catering.

Brunch wedding at City House St Paul

There were so many fun details to lean into the couple’s brunch wedding theme. Our favorites were that guests were able to take home a thrifted mug from the couple’s “to have and to hold” shelf and each table had a morning newspaper article about the couple!

Lancer Catering provided a delicious dessert display consisting of mini donuts and bars, along with a heart-shaped cutting cake for the couple.

After a few toasts and family photos, the couple went to Downtown St Paul with Studio KH to take fun photos in a convertible!

Upon returning to City House, there was a little bit of dancing on the dance floor before guests departed by 2:00pm. It was such a fun, early wedding day!

Amy + Jackson, our team had so much fun coordinating your brunch City House St Paul wedding day! We hope that marriage has been filled with as much love as this day was.

Thank you to Studio KH for sharing these wonderful photos with us!
