Summer Backyard Wedding in Wisconsin | Laine + Max

Summer backyard wedding in Wisconsin

As backyard wedding planners, we often only experience a private property once. That said, there are some special exceptions where we get to return, like for Laine and Max’s summer backyard wedding in Wisconsin!

This was our second time at the property as we helped with Paige and Steve’s wedding here in 2017 (Paige is Laine’s sister). It was fun to return to their parents’ property to see the new barn that they had built to host the dinner in. RE Owner and Lead Planner Kellie had a great time planning with the bride, groom, and bride’s parents.

After the site visit, Kellie was able to help figure out the layout of the new barn and the rental items needed. This is all included in our Backyard Package!

After lots of planning, the wedding week finally arrived! The Thursday prior to the wedding day, Kellie was back on site to help with set up and get everything prepped as much as possible. We love working with this sweet family and couldn’t wait to pull together another fabulous wedding for them and their 165 guests.

THE MORNING

The ladies started getting ready bright and early at the family’s cabin down the road. Taylor Marie Beauty’s crew was on site to tackle glam and bring the best morning vibes!

The morning was filled with vendors buzzing around the property to complete their respective tasks. Our team was ready to greet everyone and direct them as needed, while also helping to set up the reception barn. Northern Poppy dropped off the bouquets and beautifully arranged the colorful flowers at the ceremony and reception locations.

The couple had recruited a lot of family members to help wherever they could, so we greatly appreciated their assistance getting everything placed correctly, including the patio furniture and table linens. Food Gallery Catering was also busy setting up in the reception area, adding their silverware along with napkins and blue glassware from Linen Effects.

It was a warm day out, but luckily both barns had AC so everyone was able to stay nice and cool during setup!

Once Laine slipped into her stunning gown from A&Be Bridal, it was time for the couple’s first look! Flow Event Group had their photo and video crew ready to capture the emotional moment, before making their way around the property with Laine, Max, and their wedding party.

As photos wrapped up, our team pulled the wedding party aside for a quick ceremony rehearsal. This is always helpful to calm everyone’s nerves so that they know how to walk and where to stand.

The wedding party then hid away as guests began to arrive. As everyone hopped off of the shuttle from Kobussen Buses, they were invited to grab a bottled drink from the bar and hop on a golf cart from MOR Golf Carts to head to the ceremony site.

THE CEREMONY

The outdoor ceremony site came together beautifully! Northern Poppy created a stunning floral arch and lined the aisle with roses placed throughout the grass.

Just as all of the guests were seated and the wedding party was lined up for the ceremony processional, the caterer let us know that the power went out in the barn as they were preparing appetizers. The father of the bride sprang into action and quickly fixed it so that the caterers could continue their prep. While we can plan for a lot of things, you do need to be flexible and ready for anything if you’re having a backyard wedding!

It wasn’t long before we were ready to kick off the ceremony. The processional consisted of 6 bridesmaids, 8 groomsmen, 2 flower girls, and 2 ring bearers. It was so fun seeing Paige and Steve’s 2 kiddos as one of the flower girls and ring bearers!

Laine and Max shared a beautiful ceremony surrounded by the love of their family and friends before sharing a kiss and making their grand exit as husband and wife!

THE RECEPTION

During cocktail hour, guests enjoyed the AC, passed appetizers from Food Gallery Catering, and cold drinks from One More Bartending in the red barn on the property. Guests also enjoyed relaxing in a cozy lounge area throughout the day, which featured rentals from Collected and Co.

Meanwhile, the designated helpers assisted us in moving the ceremony chairs into the dinner barn. Our team made sure that the correct number was at each table before inviting guests to transition into the white dinner barn.

The reception barn came together beautifully! Each table had a wood board runner, bud vases, and floating candles. The couple rented a wooden farm table from Briggs Rentals for their head table, and Northern Poppy created an amazing floral installation that hung above the couple. It was perfect!

Once all of the guests were seated, the wedding party made their grand entrance as a group, followed by the bride and groom. This was a high energy group, so we knew we were in for a good party!

After the couple said a quick welcome speech, Food Gallery Catering served a plated dinner to guests. It was so delicious and the catering crew was extremely attentive!

There were a few speeches before guests made their way outside for a sweet dessert from the MN Nice Cream truck. This is always a hit, especially on hot days like this one! Everyone enjoyed hanging out in the cocktail barn, eating ice cream, and sitting on the patio by the fire that our team started.

As the night went on, it was time for the first dances. The couple shared a special first dance with fun cold sparklers, followed by the traditional parent dances.

Not long after, Village Pizzeria arrived with late night pizzas. Guests loved popping over to grab a slice before making their way back to the packed dance floor run by Flow Event Group!

The night concluded with lots of dancing, drinks, and fun! Our team made sure that everything got cleaned up for the couple, per our Clean Up Package that they added onto our services.

Laine + Max, thank you so much to you and your family for trusting our team again! We loved getting to spend another special day with your amazing crew.

Shoutout to Flow Event Group for sharing these wonderful photos with us!
